Perry Roofing was founded in 1976 and is based in Gainesville, Florida, but there is nothing 1970’s about their modern residential sales process. After their lead measurement and inspection technician moved into another position, they adopted IMGING drones for faster work, more transparency, and more satisfied customers.

Longevity in business means something, and in the roofing industry, it means even more. Perry Roofing Contractors has been operating for 44 years thanks to their focus on building relationships with customers, performing quality work, and providing lasting warranties.Their approach to residential roofing has long involved a high-touch and personalized sales process. Every roof was inspected and measured by hand, in addition to consultation visits held in their product showroom when possible. When their measurement technician moved into another role, they were reluctant to switch to an impersonal sales process that relied on phone conversations, aerial imagery, and remote selling.

A Changing Workforce

Chris Livingston is the Residential Sales Manager in his sixth year with Perry Roofing. He had relied on their outgoing measurement technician for accurate measurements, penetration counts, and on-site photos for years, but now was forced to consider other options. Every property that Perry roofs goes through a two-step process. First, the condition of the roof is documented, and penetrations are recorded. Second, measurements are gathered. As Chris began looking to replace his measurement technician, he thought hiring and training a new technician was his most likely solution. The heavy tree cover of North-Central Florida can be a challenge for any aerial measurement provider, and on-site inspections are central to their workflow. First though, he wanted to learn more about a new technology he had heard about after Hurricane Dorian’s high winds damaged roofs along the Florida coast.

Chris received a demo of IMGING and immediately signed up. With IMGING, Chris has combined inspections, measurements, and customer visits into one visit. They’ve doubled their labor output, negating the need to hire a replacement measurement technician. He now inspects four properties in a typical morning and with an average IMGING residential flight time of 11 minutes, the time Chris saves measuring the property building relationships with potential customers.Since adopting IMGING, the Perry Roofing Residential team is doing more work with less people, saving time on each inspection, never remeasuring, and using AI-powered damage detection and drone imagery to take homeowners on an up-close inspection of their roof.
